2nd grade. Social Science. Solar system JK

Have you ever thought about Earth?

Yeah, you know, that place where you live.
Looks beautiful, ehhh!!!!

Well, let me tell you, we belong to the Solar System!
How did the solar system become?
BIG BANG
What is the Solar system?
Our Solar system is made up of the sun, satellites, and planets.
The planets orbit the sun.

There are 8 planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Are you ready for a quiz! Give me an "Oh yeah!!!"
What is Earth?
Earth is our planet.
                     It is a large sphere.
Have a close look. What can you see?
Yes! It´s a blue planet because it is covered with a lot of water like the oceans but there is also land like islands and continents.
Play Time!

Earth is surrounded by air called atmosphere and in the air there is oxygen.
Take a deep breath.

I love my planet Earth!!

Hey! What is that up in the sky that I see at night?
 The what? The moon!
What is the moon?
The moon is the Earth Satellite
It is smaller than the Earth and has no light, no air, and no water.
Sounds like a boring place to me!
The moon rotates the Earth.

This is why we have day and night?
Yes! Earth spins slowly. It turns around once every 24 hours (1 day) When the surface of the Earth faces the sun it is day and on the other side it is night.
Moon has phases. Here is a great project you can do at home with oreo cookies
What is the sun?
The sun is a star
But it doesn´t look like this.
It looks like this to our eyes.
But do you really want to know what color is the sun?
It´s white, believe it or not!

Well, that was interesting, but let´s keep rolling with the sun.
The sun gives the earth light and heat.
The sun rises at dawn and sets at dusk.
At midday, it is high in the sky and at night the sun is hidden.

Earth spins around the sun. It takes 365 days. (1 year) to do this. Wow!!!!
Oh yeah! Ready to welcome our 4 seasons.
