 What is an ecosystem? An ecosystem is a community of living things and non-living things of a certain place.





Types of ecosystems:













TERRESTRIAL: Ecosystems found on land
Tundra: the coldest ecosystem. Located in the North and South pole.
-Grasslandtemperate grassland: mild weather with a lot of grass.
                    tropical grassland: hot all year round. Very dry and                               with a season of heavy rains.
-Tropical Rainforest: hot and humid with abundant rainfall.
-Desert: hottest place on earth. Hight temperatures during the day and low at night.
-Forest: ecosystem with many trees. The temperature is mild and not humid.
      - Deciduous forest: trees lose their leaves
    - Evergreen forest or coniferous forest: trees are all year round green.



AQUATIC: A community of living things and non-living things that are in the water.

Freshwater: lake, rivers, ponds, underground water, swamps, streams....



-Saltwater: seas and oceans.












ARTIFICIAL: an ecosystem with some characteristics of natural ecosystems but created and maintained by humans.
These can be:
Terrestrial: crop fields,.....
Aquatic: aquariums, fishing tanks...
Urban: a park, the zoo,....
