SPECIAL DAYS!!!

HALLOWEEN

For us, in Peñas Albas School, Halloween started at the beginning of the month of October... It is our favourite holiday!! We love celebrating Halloween. We first asked the kids to write a spell and decorate it. We used all of them to decorate the school hallways... It looked so "nice and creepy". Thanks for participating and helping us to make the school look so "scary".
We also watched a play. We worked on it in the classes, it was  about a haunted castle and a mummy inside a pyramid in Egypt. It was so much fun.......
The week before Halloween, we dressed up in different colours according to the day... Monday, blue...Tuesday, red... and so on.
And the big day came ... the teachers dressed up and performed a funny play called "The 10th Witches Annual Spells Contest". We all had so much fun... teachers enjoyed acting and kids loved to watch the play, and see their teachers turned into witches.

THANKSGIVING DAY

Thanksgiving Day is a holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Thanksgiving is celebrated each year on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.
The modern Thanksgiving holiday traces its origins from a 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation, where the Plymouth settlers held a harvest feast after a successful growing season. This was continued in later years, first as an important religious observance, and later as a civil tradition.

TIPICAL FOOD
Baked or roasted turkey
Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet corn.
Pumpking pie.
-   This food is commonly associated with Thanksgiving dinner.

On Thanksgiving Day, families and friends usually gather for a large meal or dinner. Consequently, the Thanksgiving holiday weekend is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Thanksgiving is a four-day or five-day weekend vacation for schools and colleges.

Yesterday, January 30th we celebrated the international

      Peace Day

During this week we have been working on this topic in all the classes, the first cycle wrote the word PEACE in many languages and using different materials.

The second cycle worked different stories related with human rights, races, cultures,...
The third cycle found out about different Charities: Save the Children, Greenpeace, Red Cross,...

Wednesday 30th, we met in the gym,, to listen about the things we have been working during this week related with PEACE.

Preschool wore  white shirts as well as the first cycle, but the first cycle painted theirs. Second cycle wore red shirts.

After all the presentations, we all sang with the lovely voice of Viky, the song by Antonio Flores, "No Dudaría" Listen and sing along.

We should have in mind that this is only a day, just a day.... but PEACE is something we should have in mind ALWAYS.

By talking nicely to our classmates and friends
By playing nicely, not fighting.
By helping others.
By respecting the work of our classmates

By respecting other cultures around us.
.........

LET'S ALL  MAKE
 A BETTER WORLD!!!!!!
.

CARNAVALS

 Carnavals was such good fun!

We all dressed up as Chinese because we were learning about Chinese culture.

                           Did you know?

The Olympic game in 2008 in China was on the 08/08/08 at 08:08:08pm because the Chinese´s lucky number is 8 “Bâ”

And their Unlucky number is 4 “Suh” This is why many buildings do not have floor 4

As we were born in 2006 we are “Dogs”.Well, that is what Chinese astrology says.

Dogs are loyal and sincere so we are fair and team workers.

Dragons are very special in China. Their body is a mixture of other animals’ bodies

We also wrote our name in Chinese. Have a try!!

Nowadays, this day is celebrated in many places with colourful parades like this one.
